Vor den Shows gibt es eine kleine Podiumsdiskussion mit SOLE! Thema: “Hip Hop, D.I.Y. Aesthetics and the Intersectionality of Global Political Movements“! Wer Fragen und Antworten hat der sollte um 20 Uhr da sein.

Waas, schon wieder Rekorderap? War doch grad erst!

 

Stimmt, ja, stimmt! Aber für eine Spezialausgabe hängen wir direkt noch einen dran. Denn: Der US-Amerikaner SOLE tourt im Herbst durch Europa. Und wir dachten uns: Wie gut wäre es diesen Menschen bei uns im Rekorder zu sehen? Wir sind sehr glücklich, dass ss nun wirklich Realität ist und wir SOLE bei uns begrüßen können, denn der Typ ist eine wirkliche Undergrund-Legende. Als Mitbegründer des bekannten Indie-Rap-Labels ANTICON ist er schon seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren dabei. Und seine Musik ist der absolute Gegenentwurf zu dem, was in den USA so medial abgeht – und das nicht nur auf Rap bezogen. SOLE kommt mit höchst politischen, intelligenten, meinungsbeladenen und widersprechenden Texten um die Ecke. Ja, derzeit ein wirklich Ausnahmekünstler.

 

Doch auch an diesem Abend kommt deutschsprachiger Rap dazu. Der Ruhrpottler ANGRY TENG sollte Leuten, die sich mir Rap aus Dortmund auseinander setzen ein Begriff sein. Auch seine Musik ist Gegenentwurf, ist intelligent, ist politisch, ist meinungsbeladen. Die perfekte Ergänung zu SOLE & DJ PAIN 1, wie wir finden.

 

Wir freuen uns auf diese ganz besondere Ausgabe von Rekorderrap – und da darf es auch ruhig mal ein Montag sein.

In 1998 he founded Anticon Records, the first collectively owned indie Hip-Hop label in the United States. Since then, Sole has played over a thousand shows throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Japan. His music has been featured in major media outlets such as Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, MTV, Huffington Post, Spin, Alternet, and many more. Sole has released eight full length studio albums and over a dozen mixtapes. In 2009, together with award winning visual artist, Ravi Zupa, he published The Pyre, an illustrated epic poem exploring empire, radical philosophy, anti-capitalism, and collapse. Throughout his career sole has been known as one to push the limits in terms of genre and content and is widely heralded as a pioneer of avant garde & experimental rap music. His latest albums present a thorough examination and celebration of resistance happening around the world. Sole’s activism reaches beyond the studio and stage into his everyday life where he is deeply involved material and logistical support to many projects that engage directly in the class struggle.
